Core Web Vitals in 2026: performance is no longer a technical detail
Google ranks it, users abandon it, competitors thank you: why your website's performance became a business decision and how to know if yours is up to standard.

For years, website performance was treated as a developer topic: important, but invisible to the business. That's over. Today, your site's speed directly influences how much you pay per ad click, where you rank on Google, and how many visitors reach checkout.
What are Core Web Vitals
They're the three metrics Google uses to measure the real experience of people visiting your site: LCP measures how long the main content takes to appear, INP measures how quickly the page responds to interactions, and CLS measures how much the layout "jumps" while loading. They're collected from real users, on real devices and connections. Scoring well in lab tests while failing in real life doesn't count.
Why this is a business decision
Ranking
Between two sites with equivalent content, the faster one tends to rank better. In competitive markets, that difference pays for the performance investment many times over.
Conversion
Every extra second of load time measurably drops conversion rates. In e-commerce the relationship is direct: a slow page is an abandoned cart.
Media cost
Ads pointing to slow pages cost more and convert less. Improving the landing page is often the campaign optimization with the best return.
The mistakes we find most
When we audit sites that come to us, the culprits repeat: heavy unoptimized images, themes and page builders loaded with scripts that are never used, fonts blocking rendering, missing caching, and cheap hosting holding everything back. The good news: almost all of it can be fixed without rebuilding the site from scratch.
How to know if your site is up to standard
Run your domain through PageSpeed Insights and look at the "what real users are experiencing" section. Green on all three metrics means you're in the game. Anything else is opportunity being wasted daily.
At the studio, we treat performance as a requirement from the first line of code, not a last-minute tweak. Sites born fast cost less to maintain, rank better, and convert more. If yours is slow, a performance audit is probably the best-returning investment available to you today.
